Working offline, syncing and view-only mode

Does Smart Inspector work without internet?

Section titled “Does Smart Inspector work without internet?”

Yes. Everything you record (tasks, readings, cleaning, deliveries, issues, photos) is saved on the phone first, so the app works in a kitchen with weak or no internet. When the phone is online again it sends your records and brings back what others recorded. This is called sync.

Open Settings > Sync status. It shows “Up to date”, “Syncing…”, “No connection”, how many changes are waiting to be sent, or “Some changes were not accepted”, and when it last synced. Tap Sync now to send right away (it only shows when there is something to send).

The server refused a change. Under “Not accepted” the screen says why: someone else changed the same thing at the same time, your role may not make that change, or another reason. Do it again if it is still needed, or ask your manager.

Will I lose records if the phone stays offline?

Section titled “Will I lose records if the phone stays offline?”

No, they stay on the phone until they are sent. After 3 days without syncing the app reminds you. Do not sign out or delete the app while records are waiting to be sent.

A colleague’s record has not appeared yet

Section titled “A colleague’s record has not appeared yet”

Their phone or yours has not synced yet. When you are both online, pull the screen down to refresh.

You can open and read everything, but cannot add or change anything. A “View only” strip with a lock shows above the tabs and the save buttons are dimmed. Tap the strip or a dimmed button to see why.

  • The subscription ended: after a few days of grace the app becomes view-only until it is renewed. The owner can see it in Settings > Subscription.
  • Your account was deactivated: ask your administrator.
  • The phone has not connected to the server for a long time: connect to the internet so it can sync.
